About us
|
Thanks to its geographic and strategic position in
the valley of the river Váh since long ago Trenčín
has belonged among the most important cities of Slovakia.
The most ancient history of the town, dated back to
179, is recalled by the inscription in the Trenčín
castle rock that commemorates the famous victory of
Markus Aurelius over the Quadi in Laugarício.
The Trenčín castle that dominates the town is attached
to the name of the Hungarian feudalist Matúš Čák.
In the Middle Ages the town had various priviledges
and rights: it was freed from paying a toll and became
a free royal town. Trenčín did not avoid catastrophes
and wars but they did not stop its development.

|
During the first Czechoslovak Republic the biggest
project and building company was established in
the Trenčín region. Jozef Čevela, the legionary
of Czech descent, was its founder. This contractor
is the author of several famous dwelling and rental
houses, among which the building of the present
Aurelius pension belonged. The building was built
in 1920 in the late secessian style. After nationalization
the building had several proprietors.
|
|
In 2002 the building was reconstructed and converted
to a pension. In its 10 style-furnished rooms it
provides pleasant
and comfortable accommodation, the price includes
breakfast, the possibility to use a bar, relaxing,
steam and whirlpool bath.
We believe that not only the town with its history
and present but even our pension Aurelius will leave
pleasant memories and we are looking forward to
seeing you again
